Guests flying into the Greater Rochester International Airport will enjoy short flight times—less than 90 minutes—from cities such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Washington, DC. Once at the airport, a 10-minute taxi ride will bring you to The Strong and its Play Partners—the National Museum of Play, the International Center for the History of Electronic Games, the National Toy Hall of Fame, the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play, and the American Journal of Play.
By car
Easily accessible from the New York State Thruway and regional expressways, The Strong is only one hour by car from Buffalo, 75 minutes from Syracuse, and approximately six hours or less from cities such as Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Washington, DC.
- From the West:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 47 (LeRoy). Take Interstate 490 East to Exit 15. Bear right onto South Avenue and then turn left onto Byron Street. At the light, make a left onto South Clinton Avenue. Turn right onto Woodbury Boulevard and continue straight into the National Museum of Play entrance. - From the East:
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 45 (Rochester). Take Interstate 490 West to Exit 16 (Clinton Avenue/Downtown). At the first traffic light, turn right onto Woodbury Boulevard. At the next traffic light, cross Chestnut Street into The Strong entrance. - From the South:
Take Interstate 390 North to Interstate 590 North. Follow Interstate 590 North to Interstate 490 West. Take Interstate 490 West to Exit 16 (Clinton Avenue/Downtown). At the first traffic light, turn right onto Woodbury Boulevard. At the next traffic light, cross Chestnut Street into The Strong entrance.
By rail
The Rochester, New York, region has more than 60 weekly Amtrak passenger rail departures from downtown. The rail station is within a short drive or walk of The Strong.
