Academic Policy
Examination and desk copies are subject to approval by our Customer Service team. Only email addresses with the domain .edu will be considered. Once a review copy is requested you are no longer eligible for a desk copy unless the review copy was for a committee's consideration.
Books will be sent standard Ground shipping to a university. Please allow two to four weeks for delivery.
eBooks may be substituted for hard copy books but not in tandem with. eBooks are easier to distribute and negate the shipping time. Please specify this option on the form.
If you are an educator outside of North America, we only provide eBooks for review.
Submitting Your Request
You may submit your request(s) using our Review/Deskcopy Request Form. Requests may also be submitted in writing on department letterhead via fax at (510) 549-5939.
Please note that we do not take academic requests over the telephone.
When making your request, please fill out the form completely. Also include an Adoption Decision Date and whether an individual or committee will be making the decision. If possible, please provide the titles of the texts currently being used in the course. Requests sent with complete information will receive priority. Only 3 textbook requests per semester. If requesting more than 1 book, please use the same form.
You will receive an email confirmation regarding your request within 1-2 business days. If you do not receive an email confirmation please write to academic@apress.com.
Roadmaps
Our distinctive technology Roadmaps are designed to guide readers through the beginning, professional, and expert series. The roadmaps offer the shortest distance to mastery of a subject and help instructors select course materials based on their program's objectives. We also provide full tables of contents, indexes, and sample chapters for all our books. These can be found at the book's main page at Apress.com.
Placing an Order
If you chose to adopt a text please contact a sales representative to place an order. The sales representative will assure your books are ordered and shipped in a timely manner. You may also place an order by phone at (510) 549-5930 x121. Official PO's may be submitted via fax at (510) 549-5939.
