With more than 20 years of managerial and technical experience in the IT industry spanning multiple continents, Rama Velpuri is currently vice president of software engineering at CA's Clarity PPM division. Previously, he was chief executive officer of Mansita Consulting, a management consulting firm based in India. Before founding Mansita in 2008, Velpuri was the chief technology officer at Kenexa Technologies, a U.S.-based company focusing on human capital management. During his years working at Kenexa, Velpuri successfully drove the technology efforts of the company with his team of over 400 software engineers and managers spread across Hyderabad, Kuala Lumpur, Philadelphia, Wayne and Boston. During this period, he built global development centers in India and Malaysia that saved the company millions of dollars and enabled them to build time-to-market products that dramatically increased revenues. As an officer of the company, Velpuri played an important role in taking Kenexa public on the NASDAQ (KNXA) in June of 2005. Post-IPO, Velpuri was responsible for technology decisions for numerous acquisitions that Kenexa made. He was also responsible for the integration of these companies into the Kenexa brand.
For several years before joining Kenexa, Velpuri was founder and chief executive officer of Oramasters, Inc. There, he successfully built Oracle database monitoring products that proactively monitored and managed customer's databases online for high availability.
Velpuri started his career with Oracle Corporation in 1988 in Redwood City, California. Over the next 11 years, he successfully worked on numerous strategic initiatives in development, technical support, and consulting. In 1996, as an executive director at Oracle, Velpuri started Oracle's product engineering center in Bangalore, India, as well as its development center in Hyderabad. During his tenure at Oracle, Velpuri authored nine successful technology books that have been translated into several languages including German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Dutch, Japanese and Mandarin.
Velpuri has a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering. He is a U.S. citizen and lives in Hyderabad with his wife and two children.
