About this book
The book offers a valuable resource for students and statisticians whose work involves survey sampling. An estimation of the population parameters in finite and fixed populations assisted by auxiliary variables is considered. New sampling designs dependent on moments or quantiles of auxiliary variables are presented on the background of the classical methods. Accuracies of the estimators based on original sampling design are compared with classical estimation procedures. Specific conditional sampling designs are applied to problems of small area estimation as well as to estimation of quantiles of variables under study.Â
Reviews
âThe author is a recognized expert and his monograph presents in its four chapters an up-to-date description of approaches to estimation of the population parameters in survey sampling taking into account auxiliary variables. ⊠The monograph belongs to the series of âSpringer Briefs in Statistics,â so not surprisingly the density of the presented formulas is high. This book can serve to lecturers, graduate students, and researchers working with modern survey sampling techniques.â (Stan Lipovetsky, Technometrics, Vol. 58 (3), August, 2016)
âThis small monograph is a synthesis of contributions on sampling designs that are dependent on sample moments or on the order statistics of auxiliary variables. ⊠A list of important references is provided at the end of each chapter, and this will help a reader wishing to pursue this area further.â (MarĂa del Mar Rueda, Mathematical Reviews, February, 2016)
âA few references at the end of each chapter are given. Language wise, it is not difficult to follow the text. ⊠Research scholars in this field will find this brief useful.â (T. J. Rao, zbMATH 1338.62013, 2016)
