Diese ermöglicht eine umfassende Erklärung der Determinanten sowie eine bessere Prognose der Zinsstruktur. Die Zinsstruktur stellt die immanente ertragswirtschaftliche Grundlage für die strategische Planung und Steuerung von Finanzinstituten sowie für die Bewertung von Finanztiteln dar. Nicht zuletzt ist die Zinsstruktur auch ein Indikator für die langfristige Wohlfahrtsentwicklung einer Volkswirtschaft.
