Maker Season Continues: Apress at SoCal MakerCon

In truth, every season is “maker” season, a time to see what amazing new DIY gadgets are being invented and what they might lead to. But autumn in particular is a great time for makers since we have a couple of the biggest “maker” events to inspire us: New York City and Rome Maker Faires.

Even though NYC and Rome Maker Faires are over, that doesn’t mean the party ends, especially for the Los Angeles area innovators. There is a smaller (but growing!) event coming up on Saturday, November 7: SoCal MakerCon at the LA Fairplex.

Apress authors Joan Horvath, Rich Cameron (AKA “whosawhatsis” and inventor of the Bukito 3D printer), and Joe Micallef will be there, talking about their books and their latest projects.

Joan and Rich are the authors of several books (and more upcoming), including Mastering 3D Printing, The New Shop Class, and 3D Printing with MatterControl. They’ll be signing books at MakerCon on November 7, plus they’ll be giving a talk at the Montclair, CA Barnes & Noble at 1pm and 5pm on November 8.

Joe is the author of Beginning Design for 3D Printing, and he’ll not only be at MakerCon, but he’ll also be doing a book signing at noon at the Santa Monica Barnes & Noble on November 8.

If you’re in the LA area on November 7 and 8, be sure to stop by one or more of these events so you can check out the Apress booth #164 at SoCal MakerCon and meet some of the brightest and most innovative makers around. You can also get a coupon for 30% off a Technology in Action ebook or inquire about writing or tech reviewing for Apress.

If you’re a “maker”, a developer, an entrepreneur, an educator, or just someone who wants to see fighting robots and 3D printers, you should stop by SoCal MakerCon and check things out.
